What happens during consultation
The consultation is a focused, 20 minutes meeting where we discuss your loc goals and examine your hair and scalp to assess current condition. Expect questions about your daily routine, maintenance preferences, and any prior chemical or heat history. This conversation helps us determine whether starter locs or another loc service is the right path.
During assessment we look for practical constraints that affect results: hair density, texture, existing breakage, and scalp health. We will explain options in plain terms and outline realistic timelines. The session is diagnostic — it clarifies choices rather than performing styling work, and it sets expectations for the follow-up service.
How we assess hair condition
Assessment combines a visual and tactile examination to note texture, density, and elasticity without making medical claims. We evaluate how existing hair characteristics influence part size, potential shrinkage, and maintenance needs. This helps determine the right starter loc approach and informs aftercare recommendations suited to your hair’s current state.
Local climate factors such as Fayetteville’s humid subtropical weather are considered because humidity and seasonal changes influence styling and maintenance plans. We discuss realistic upkeep in the context of your commute, work schedule, and lifestyle to recommend options you can maintain between salon visits.
Booking, payment, and preparation
Consultations must be booked in advance and require a $30 consultation fee that is non-refundable and not applied toward your service. If you decide to move forward, a $50 deposit is required to secure your service appointment. The deposit holds your booking; failing to secure it may result in losing the preferred appointment slot.
On the day of your consultation please arrive with clean, completely dry hair unless instructed otherwise. The remaining balance for services is required to be paid in cash. Our West Fayetteville / Cliffdale location is convenient for commuters and military families near Fort Liberty, making scheduling before or after shifts easier.
